Orientation in Yaounde

Since Sunday, we have been in the capital of the country for our orientation.  I have had three shots here besides the one I had in Philly.  My arm is sore but my immune system is kicking.

We just got out of our first agro-forestry meeting.  Dr. Injiti and Tiki are great.  They are super dynamic and I feel much better about the work I will eventually do.  It is raining like crazy right now.  I keep forgetting where I am.  We have been a bit sheltered, but I am pretty glad because they are giving us the opportunity to adjust to one thing at a time.  The time, the food, the language.  Tomorrow night we are taking an overnight train to Garoua and then the ag people go to Nassarao and the health people go to Pitoa.  There we will get placed with our host family.  We will be in training for about 10 weeks before the swearing-in ceremony on December 5th.  And now I am going to stop.  Another plus about typing the entries on my computer is the ability to type much quicker.  This keyboard is driving me nuts.  Enjoy the cool weather, I’ve heard it can get up to 140 in the “Great North”.
